Pitch Deck Intro

If you’re raising money for your business, an excellent pitch deck is a key component in your fundraising toolkit.

A great pitch deck gets potential investors excited about your idea and engages them in a conversation about your business, hopefully leading to an investment.

Over the past decade, I've seen thousands of pitch decks as well as built my own to raise money.

Counterintuitive as it may be, the goal of your pitch deck is not to raise money. Rather, you want your pitch deck to spark interest in your company and score you a second meeting with the investor.

Because investors have limited resources in terms of time and attention, they actually look for reasons NOT to invest when they see your pitch.

That’s why it is critical that your deck is carefully crafted to appeal deeply to investors.

I work with companies to develop winning decks that do just that. Drawing on my years of experience, I designed a 5-step method called “ConDes” that will get your pitch to where you want it. ConDes works as follows:

ConDes Content Design Process

Step I - get your story ready - In this step we will figure out what story we want to tell. Using business storytelling techniques we will craft an initial storyboard for your deck.

Step II - give your story colors - In this step we will find your corporate design, which takes your company story and reflects it visually in a logo, color palette, typography, slide templates and more. If you already have a corporate design, we make sure it fits the story we want to tell.

Step III - production - Now it’s time to create slides, first in black on white to get the flow right, and then match them with the corporate design.

Step IV - make your slides unique - In this stage a designer takes your slides and makes each of them one of a kind.

Step V - finalizing and dry-run - Once the design work is done, it’s time to make sure the story works perfectly and make any final corrections.
